The A-word, Autism Part 32: Baby Sister Is On The Way

Another child is about to be added to Jack Riley’s family. Little sister is going to be born today, and with that, a lot of changes will occur that everyone will need to adjust to.

During therapy, Jessica and Jack Riley continue working on “Can I have…” and Jessica uses a partial vocal prompt instead of a full vocal prompt to get him to ask instead of request items.

A full vocal prompt is saying the entire phrase, “Can I have book.” A partial vocal prompt is pronouncing only the initial sound of the first word or sentence. For example, “can” would become “c”. In today’s video you will hear the difference between the two.

With Jack Riley’s ever-expanding vocabulary, he expects all his requests to be met, but he has to learn that sometimes he won’t get what he asks for.
