Dictionary.com defines “family” as “a basic social unit consisting of parents and their children, considered as a group, whether dwelling together or not.” But isn’t it more than that? We can also go the scientific route and explain family as a group of individuals that share similar hereditary features and DNA. But even still, does that definition capture the feelings of love, acceptance, and empowerment that only a family can give?
CARD is made up of therapists, BCBAs, and supervisors who have chosen to dedicate their lives to the treatment of children with autism. The keyword here is ‘chosen’, because each CARD therapist, BCBA, and supervisor cares deeply about helping the individuals they treat to achieve their highest potential.
With dedication like this, families are embracing the CARD therapists they see as part of their family. In response, CARD would like to embrace the families we see as part of our family, the #CARDFamily.
