The Autism Society of California is pleased to release our 2014 California Autism Survey. While a number of areas are explored in the survey, the two major areas of focus are autism insurance and employment. The survey will be open through Wednesday, February 5, 2014 for input by parents, guardians and individuals with autism.
As the ball dropped and 2014 was officially rung in, my first thought was, “More Americans with Autism will have access to important, life- changing therapies than ever before!” My second thought, after a heavy sigh, was, “It’s not enough.” There is so much more work to be done. Autism as a community of individuals, both those who are on the spectrum and those who love those on the spectrum, has struggled to find a clear voice. Ironic? Perhaps. But the time to come together is now; the time to be clear, concise, and direct is NOW!
We’re launching the nation’s first-of-its-kind comprehensive treatment program for adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The CARD Adult Services program uses intensive, scientifically-proven applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to place adults with ASD on the fast track to being functional in their daily lives, integrated into the community, and living their lives to their fullest potential.
As of this month (October) CARD is proud to announce that we now offer individual counseling for children and teens on the spectrum!
Skills® is making a big splash this summer! We had a very favorable review in Behavior Analysis in Practice in June. In July, CARD’s “Mission Possible: Portraits of Hope” online video series highlighting personal journeys, challenges, and successes of children with autism released a video of Maddy Robinson who achieved recovery from autism after early intervention and applied behavior analysis (ABA) intervention led by her parents using the Skills curriculum.
This last week we got the opportunity to sit in on one of the practice sessions that the center does with it’s therapists! What an awesome experience! Do you want to get your child tested, or perhaps re-tested? Or do you want to come and see our new facility and meet the staff? Let us know!!
It’s Autism Awareness Month! This month CARD would like to recognize to online programs that are making it easier (and cheaper) for parents to bring quality therapy into their home based on ABA principles. The best part about it, is that the training and curriculum is online! So YOU can use it when YOU have time!
The Institute for Behavioral Training (IBT) launches its one-stop training site this week to provide parents and professionals who work with individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) customized training based on research-proven techniques using applied behavior analysis (ABA). IBT offers four types of training programs, including eLearning, face-to-face training, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) supervision and continuing education.
CARD is excited to launch Camp Discovery: Objects, an all-new game app that allows young children the opportunity to learn and explore objects that are commonly found in the home and community.
