Torin & Kaia – Mission Possible – Portrait of Hope

Seven-year-old Torin Phillips and his 6-year-old sister, Kaia, are on a mission to overcome the limiting effects of autism. The two siblings, who live just outside of Boston in Forestdale, MA, receive intensive applied behavior therapy (ABA) from the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD). Torin and Kaia’s unique and uplifting stories are featured in CARD’s newest episode of “Mission Possible: Portraits of Hope.”

Institute For Behavioral Training Opens The Door To One-Stop Customized ABA Training For Practitioners & Parents

The Institute for Behavioral Training (IBT) launches its one-stop training site this week to provide parents and professionals who work with individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) customized training based on research-proven techniques using applied behavior analysis (ABA). IBT offers four types of training programs, including eLearning, face-to-face training, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) supervision and continuing education.

Opportunities like Thea’s give behavior analysts a chance to increase the understanding of ABA to those outside the field. If we continue to interact and collaborate with as well as learn from and educate professionals in the educational and medical fields we have a very exciting future. The benefit for practitioners is huge, but the benefit to our clients and students is incalculable.

Bringing Skills® Abroad

We had the opportunity to talk to her about Skills®. She was excited about the possibility of getting families in South Africa access to Skills®. She expressed the need for more help in South Africa due to the extreme poverty and lack of understanding there. We chatted for hours about how things are changing in South Africa and the hope the people have for more resources.
